Airbus A330neo makes its first flight with a maximum take-off weight of 251 tons!

The A330-900, registered as F-WWCE and with a maximum take-off weight of 251 tons, made its first test flight in Toulouse, France. Different from the previous A330neo, it is designed for a maximum take-off weight of 251 tons. Airbus expects this version of the A330neo to perform longer voyages and bring better economic benefits. As the maximum take-off weight is increased to 251 tons, the A330-900 will increase 650 nautical miles or more than 6 tons of payload compared to the current 242-ton version of the A330-800.

In addition, the A330-900 is ideal for long-haul trans-Pacific or Asia-Europe routes, and it is a typical three-class cabin configuration that can accommodate 260-300 passengers. The A330-800 can accommodate 220-260 passengers.

The A330-900 is expected to pass airworthiness authority certification in mid-2020. Airbus retained 99% of A330neo's spare parts in common, and achieved a maximum take-off weight increase through a combination of neutral weight enhancement and landing gear adaptation.

In addition, the modification of the nose and the main landing gear also extended the overhaul interval, extending the previous 10-year interval to a new 12-year interval, thereby greatly saving maintenance costs.
